We are proud to announce the release of new major version 11.0 of VintaSoft Imaging .NET SDK and the related Annotation, PDF,
JBIG2, JPEG2000, Document Cleanup, OCR, DICOM, Forms Processing and Office Plug-ins.


What's new in VintaSoft PDF .NET Plug-in 8.0:

What's new in VintaSoft Office .NET Plug-in 3.0:
  • .NET development
    • Added the ability to render DOC documents.
    • Added the ability to convert DOC document to a DOCX or PDF document.
    • Added the ability to render diagrams in DOCX and XLSX documents.
    • Added many improvements to the algorithm that renders DOCX and XLSX documents.
    • Extended the functionality for editing of DOCX documents using DocxDocumentEditor class:
      • Added the ability to edit diagrams.
      • Extended the support for editing text properties.
      • Extended the support for editing paragraph properties.
    • Created the following .NET assemblies:
      • Vintasoft.Imaging.Office.UI.dll

    • Added the ability to display labels for PDF pages in thumbnail viewer ("{PageLabel}" template for ThumbnailViewer.ThumbnailCaption property).
    • Fixed the bug in algorithm that calculates value of ThumbnailViewer.SelectedIndices property after removing several thumbnails.
  • Web development
    • Fixed the bug in algorithm that calculates positions of thumbnails in web thumbnail viewer.

    • Added the ability to draw text, which is embedded in VML figure (rectangle, oval, rounded rectangle).
    • Fixed the bug in algorithm that converts DOC document to a DOCX document.

What's new in this version of VintaSoft OCR .NET Plug-in:
  • .NET development
    • The used Tesseract OCR engine has been updated to version 5.0. Our tests have shown that Tesseract OCR 5 and Tesseract OCR 4 provide similar text recognition results but Tesseract OCR 5 is up to 2 times faster than Tesseract OCR 4.
    • Added the ability to convert OcrPage object to a TextRegion object (OcrDocument.Create and OcrPage.Create methods).
    • Demo applications:
      • Added new functionality to the OCR Demo application:
        • Added the ability to load OCR results as text from PDF document.
    • Fixed several minor bugs.
  • Web development
    • Demo applications:
      • Improved code of ASP.NET OCR Demo (ASP.NET Core Angular OCR Demo, ASP.NET MVC OCR Demo, ASP.NET WebForms OCR Demo) and now the demo allows to:
        • view document before text recognition
        • preprocess document pages before text recognition
        • recognize text from the whole document, separate page or page region.
    • Fixed several minor bugs in OCR web service.

    • Added the ability to edit properties (fill color, stroke color, alpha constant, pen width, color blending mode, text output mode) of PDF content using PDF Visual Editor.
    • Improved the performance and optimized the memory usage when working with Type0 fonts.
    • Optimized the algorithm that decodes images in CalRGB color space
    • Demo applications:
      • Added new functionality to the PDF Editor Demo application:

What's new in this version of VintaSoft Imaging .NET SDK:
  • .NET development
    • Now the distributive package of SDK contains precompiled demo applications for .NET 6 in folder "[SdkInstallPath]\VintaSoft\Imaging .NET v11.0\Bin\DotNet6\AnyCPU\". The demo applications can be used if .NET 6 is installed on computer.

What's new in this version of VintaSoft OCR .NET Plug-in:
  • .NET development
    • Now the OCR engine can determine page orientation before text recognition. This mode can be enabled by using new text recognition region type RecognitionRegionType.RecognizePageWithPageSegmentationAndOrientationDetection.
    • Now the OCR engine can determine the page orientation only. Page orientation detection works much faster than text recognition. This mode can be enabled by using new text recognition region type RecognitionRegionType.DetectPageOrientation.
    • Renamed elements in Vintasoft.Imaging.Ocr.RecognitionRegionType enumeration.
    • Created new image processing commands - GetTesseractOcrTextOrientationCommand and AutoTesseractOcrTextOrientationCommand, which allow to determine orientation of document image using Tesseract OCR.

What's new in this version of VintaSoft PDF .NET Plug-in:
  • .NET development
    • Improved the algorithm that converts textual PDF content to DOCX content.
    • Improved the compatibility of PDF document parser with PDF documents, which are not compatible with PDF standard.

    • Added the support for TTF fonts, which contain MAXP table with version 0.5.
    • Improved the algorithm that loads TTF font. Algorithm is improved for compatibility with TTF fonts, which do not correspond to the TTF standard.

    • Fixed the bug in algorithm that packs PDF document. The bug occurred if PDF document contained document information that did not correspond to PDF specification.
